Real political action starts in the teaching ministry of our church and then flows outward from there—from our relationships with other members, to our families, our workplaces, and beyond.
At some point, we are going to have to address issues that we ourselves have difficulty understanding and adhering to, we will inevitably call people to be obedient to a standard that we ourselves fall short of, and we will give advice and instruction to our churches that we need a healthy dose of ourselves. But this shouldn’t cause us to shy away from preaching the Word of God in all its fullness.
If the end to which we were created is to revel in joy at the glory of God, then for the doctrines of grace to land on us any other way means that we don’t quite fully understand them.
The only barrier that should exist between the world and Christ is sin, and therefore the only weight we should put on people is the weight of a cross. Everything else needs to just die.
Putting the Kingdom of God before the Kingdom of America gives us a mission that includes furthering the prosperity of America, but isn’t derailed by our failure to do so.
Our authenticity is proven by our persevering obedience to Jesus. In other words, like repentance and faith, perseverance is necessary for our salvation.
