When we are assured that our Treasure will never be lost, generosity will abound. When we are assured that our Righteousness will never be taken away, holiness will become more appealing. When we are assured that our Sanctification will never depart form us, then the fight for purity will become easier. When we are assured that our lives will never end, then sacrifice for the Gospel becomes an easier decision.
Her question was sincere and desperate. She had been confronted with her sin, sin that left her ostracized by her community, sitting alone at a well at noon, talking with a Stranger making strange claims.
We have a Creator Who has imbued the entire world with His glory and has made the unveiling of it the reward for those who are courageous enough to strip their hearts of all competing vanities.
Isn’t it by giving us equal beauty that we would see Him as more beautiful? Isn’t it by giving us equal dignity that we would see Him as more dignified? Isn’t it by bestowing on us equal value that we would see Him as more valuable?
I’ve found a hope that has compelled me to spend my life telling others to come see this Man who told me all I ever did.
It’s Jesus perfect nature—His sinlessness, His purity, His glory—that allows God to love Him with an eternal, unconditional love. And it’s these very things that Jesus gives us—sinlessness, purity, and glory—that allow God to love us.
